Nasi Lemak |
Nasi Lemak is a rice dish cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaf commonly found in Malaysia where it is considered the national dish. Brunei; Singapore, Riau Island; and Southern Thailand. It is not to be confused with Nasi Dagang sold in east coast of Malaysia or Terengganu and Kelantan although both dishes can be usually be found be sold by breakfast.However, because of the Nasi Lemak's versatility in being able to be serve in a variety of manners, it is now served and eaten at any time of the day.
Ingredients For Rice:
3 cups of rice
1 box of coconut milk
1 pandan leaf
Ginger (5 cm)
Salt (according to your taste)
Ingredients For Sambal:
6 big spoons of dry chilli (blended)
4 pieces of red onion (blended)
2 pieces of white onion (blended)
1 big onion (sliced)
One hand full of anchovies (according to your taste and fry)
A bit of tamarind
Salt and sugar (according to your taste)
Ingredients For Toppings:
Anchovies (fried)
Peanuts (fried)
Boiled eggs (as many as you want)
Cucumber (sliced)
Method:
1. First put all the ingredients for the rice together and cook it how you normally you cook normal rice.
2. Secondly stir-fry the big onion, the onions that been mashed and dried chilli (cook until it turn brown)
3. Lastly put in the tamarind, salt and sugar. Stir together and ready to be served.
