Hello everyone and welcome back to the cooking class back here in Malaysia Treats! Today we have some traditional Indian food which involves potatoes and some other stuff. What is it called, you asked? Well the answer of your question is Potato Masala. Please do not get mixed of Masala as masak lah! It's pronounced Masala! So I hope that you enjoy the recipe of Potato Masala!


Ingredients:

  • 10 potatoes (boiled without skin and mashed)
  • 1 tablespoon vinga mungo (white kacang Dal)
  • 4 garlic
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • cumin
  • 2 pieces curry leaves
  • 2 red chili (sliced)
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 500ml water

There are two types of Idli, one of it is soft Idli and one of it is regular Idli. I hope you'll gather all these cooking steps to your mind and start making yourself some Idli! Ingredients:

  • 1/2kg boiled Indian rice (boiled for 3 hours and been drained)
  • 100kg normal rice (boiled for 3 hours and been drained)
  • 250gm vigna mungo (white Dal)
  • 750ml water (separate to equal fractions, 1 portion is 250ml
  • Salt to taste

I can give you a hint of this food, it sounds a lot like "cepat" a Malay word for fast. And another hint is that "cepat" has "E" pronounced in the end. Okay, I'll tell you how is it pronounced, it's pronounced Chapati. So I hope you guys will enjoy the recipe!

  • 1kg atta flour
  • 50gm majerin

  • 250ml fresh cow milk

Today we have brought you guys some Malaysian food because this is traditional Malaysian food and that is called Masalodeh. Masalodeh, I know it looks a lot like an extremely crunchy cookie fat cookie but it's actually Masalodeh the fattest cookie! So I hope you guys will gather all these yummy cookie steps! Ingredients:

  • 500gm kacang dhal (soaked for 2 hours)
  • 3 big onions (sliced)
  • 2 green chillies (sliced)
  • 2cm ginger (sliced)
  • 2 pieces curry leaves (sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • Fennel seeds
  • 30ml water
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

I'll tell you the answer it is called Pongal. Ah yes, Pongal is one of the Indian traditional food and I know that some of you guys may had heard about it. So let's take our spoons and see the recipes below:

Ingredients:

  • 1kg normal rice
  • 750kg vellam (acts like gula melaka but only colour yellow, can be found in Indian shops)
  • 100kg cashews
  • Cardamom
  • 50gm kacang dhal hijau (soaked until soft)
  • 3 pieces dry chili (not yet cut)
  • 50gm raisins
  • 100gm minyak sapi
  • 500ml fresh cow milk
  • 2,000ml water

Today we got some more Indian food which also any other can eat and that my friend. is what we call Dosa. Dosa is some sort of bread that Indian normally eats because it's one of their traditional food. I'm sure you heard about that, right? So look below for the recipe and soon we can have it!!!

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg Indian boiled rice (soaked for 3 hours)
  • 250gm normal rice (soaked for 3 hours)
  • 100gm vigna mungo (a kind of Dal normally made in an Indian shop)
  • 2 tablespoons fenugreek
  • 1,250ml water
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Today's wonderful delight is something healthy which involves fruits (one fruit) and very simple to make though it is still a desert. It's called Pengat Pisang! Back in the old days Pengat Pisang was a wonderful Malaysian desert that some people loves! This kind of food is now going viral! So I hope you enjoy the recipe! (Read the recipes down below).

  •  300ml concentrated liquid milk
  • 150ml thick milk
  • Bananas (as many as you desire, peeled)
  • 100gm gula melaka
  • 50gm sugar
  • 30gm sago
  • 1 piece daun pandan

This kind of food is normally eaten in fasting month when you go to the Pasar Ramadan to buy your kuih, So I hope you'll have some fun with Roti John cause that's the name!

Ingredients:

  • 1 long piece bread (diced into two)
  • 1 egg
  • 125gm minced beef
  • 20gm mix veg
  • 1 tablespoon majerin
  • 1 red onion (chopped into pieces)
  • 1 tomato (sliced round)
  • Mayonnaise
  • Chili sauce
  • A bit of salt

Kurma Chicken

It is Kurma Chicken one of a traditional food for Malaysians so let's celebrate! I hope after these steps you'll remember all these stuff and it's not even that hard! Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • Chicken (as much as you want)
  • 6 slices red onion (peeled)
  • 3 slices garlic (peeled)
  • 2.5cm ginger (peeled)
  • 3 pieces clove
  • 3 tablespoons kurma powder
  • 500ml coconut milk
  • Salt (according to your taste)
  • Oil (for stir fry)

This bubur is like no other bubur because it is more peanuty that any other! So I hope after this tutorial you'll be fine by cooking this because it's very simple! Sambal Kicap

Hello everyone and today we got something else spicy than Sambal Belacan and that is Sambal Kicap. No other sambal is a has kicap as this one. Sambal Kicap has the taste of sambal so it's pretty spicy but in the other hand it also has kicap Malay word for soy sauce. So I hope you enjoy this wonderful delight that we had brought you so enjoy!

Ingredients:

  •  2 garlic (peeled)
  • Chili Api (about 25 or more, stem plucked)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 a spoon salt
  • Soy sauce

Today we have something Spicy for you guys. Yup, sure it is cause the recipe in Malaysia Treats for today is Sambal Belacan. This cooking can get a little hot, but it will be good. This recipe does not need to be cooked. Sambal Belacan is great for dipping in with petai. Sambal Belacan is a great pal with tempoyak. So without you starving there, let's check out some recipe!

Ingredients:

  • Cili Api (Normally like 20 but you can raise it up for more) (Plucked stem)
  • Belacan (burned)
  • 2 spoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt (according to your taste)
  • Tamarind (seeds out and tamarind pasted)
